Twice as Nice, Jesse Bail repeats win at 2014 Sturgis Wild West Days

Cowboy Lifestyle Network caught up with Riley Pruitt, Brent Sutton and Jesse Bail at the 2014 Sturgis Wild West Days this past weekend.  South Dakotan Bail won Sturgis in 2013 and repeated on Saturday June 14, 2014 when he rode United Pro Rodeo’s Shady Lady for 79 points to claim the win.  Despite the rain and weekend storms in the Black Hills rodeo contestants weathered the muddy conditions to advance their standings in the PRCA and WPRA.

Under the bright lights of Las Vegas during the WNFR there is not one spotlight on rodeoing in the mud.  Our hats at CLN are off to all the contestants who compete and work in the mud –  stock contractors, committees, bullfighters, clowns and judges.  When a seasoned stock contractor pulls out his yellow slicker take note the rodeo will proceed and somebody is going to get a mud bath. The odds for Steer Wrestlers and Rough Stock Riders are pretty good it’s going to be them.

Riley Pruitt told, Cowboy Lifestyle Network his hat was shot, and boots weren’t worth saving following his run-on Friday night.  He placed second in the Tie Down Roping overall with enough money to replace both essential items.  Pruitt is the son of Troy and Martee Pruitt from Gering, Nebraska.  His father is the 1990 World Champion Tie Down Roper and his mother qualified for the NFR in barrel racing.  Riley is a class act! Just ask the preschooler who was the recipient of his cowboy hat on Friday night.

Mud puddles attract children, cowboys and bucking stock no doubt.

Steer Wrestlers on Friday night were slipping, sliding and diving in the mud.  Brent Sutton and traveling partners were lucky to draw up on Saturday and were hopeful the arena would dry out as they watched the first performance.

Laundry detergent became a necessity for Mutton Bustin contestants on Friday night. The rain showers continued up to the performance and didn’t dampen the spirits of lil buckaroos. Thank God for bullfighters who tipped toed out to retrieve a muddy and sometimes bootless child who got stuck in the mud.

John Costello and Timber Tuckness provided commentary throughout the Sturgis Wild West Days.  The seasoned rodeo announcer and funny man joked how Saddle Bronc Riders tip toeing with their chaps held up looked like Brides picking up their dresses in the mud.

Cowboy Lifestyle Fans we want to hear from you about the best mud bath you’ve seen at a rodeo?
