Free Cancer Screenings Offered at Husker Harvest Days Sept. 15-17
Omaha, Neb. (Sept. 1, 2026) — Attendees at Husker Harvest Days will have access to free cancer screenings and prevention resources Sept. 15-17 through a collaborative effort focused on education and improving rural health outcomes.
The NCS Hope Foundation, carrying forward the legacy of the Nebraska Cancer Coalition (NC2) is continuing their mission to advance cancer care in the state of Nebraska offering free cancer screenings and educational resources.
The walk-through inflatable colon display outside of Husker Harvest Days Building 549 is the entrance point for visitors to speak with community partners including: CHI Health, Nebraska Cancer Specialists, Grace Foundation, Mary Lanning Healthcare, University of Nebraska, UNMC, Exact Sciences, Bryan Health and Central Community College. The cancer screenings and educational resources during all three days of the farm show are free and open to the public, no appointment necessary.
Screenings are available to men and women and are designed to increase early detection and awareness, particularly among rural populations who often face barriers to healthcare access.
“Early detection saves lives,” said Dan Walsh, executive director for NCS Hope Foundation. “Husker Harvest Days provides a unique opportunity to connect with our rural Nebraskans who may not routinely have availability in their schedules and/or access to preventive screenings and health resources. We encourage everyone attending the show to take advantage of this free service, said Walsh.”
Husker Harvest Days Building 549 will be staffed with information about cancer prevention, risk factors and available community health resources. Medical professionals and volunteers will be on-site throughout the event to answer questions and assist participants.
The free cancer screenings are part of an ongoing commitment by the NCS Hope Foundation and its healthcare partners to bring lifesaving education, screening opportunities and support services directly to communities across Nebraska.
Husker Harvest Days takes place Sept. 15-17 near Grand Island and draws thousands of attendees from across the Midwest each year.
