When the arena lights shine and the crowd settles in for a night of entertainment watching bucking horses and bulls compete in heart‑pounding competition, most eyes are fixed on the arena action. Behind every flawless performance, every smooth transition, and every perfectly timed announcer mention is someone whose work is essential. At Big Bucks ProRodeo Linda Flitton, the former high school chemistry teacher, coordinates the administrative side to run the rodeos.

Director of First Impressions the Rodeo Secretary

To the untrained eye, the rodeo secretary’s desk might look like a whirlwind of entry sheets, rulebooks, schedules, and desk supplies. To Flitton, it’s her mobile office in multiple totes, colored paper, tape, and plenty of unconventional desk accessories. She is the first point of contact for venues, contestants, contractors, and committees, and the last person to sign off on the details that make a rodeo official.

Long before the first horse trailer pulls into town, Flitton is already at work—coordinating entries, confirming stock assignments, preparing judges’ sheets, and ensuring every requirement of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) is met. Her job blends precision with intuition, and she handles both with the calm confidence of someone who has spent years mastering classroom management. In addition to teaching she coached high school volleyball and track.

Rodeo performances move fast. Events overlap, questions come up, stock changes, and unexpected challenges pop up without warning. A national anthem singer is running late for rehearsal. A contestant draws out. Personnel need copies and script changes. A vendor needs electricity. In those moments, the entire production looks to one person for answers.

With a can-do attitude, a fashionable hat and a mental map of the entire performance, she navigates each minute with grace. Linda communicates with announcers, judges, timers, stock contractors, and the arena crew—often simultaneously—ensuring the show never loses momentum.

“Rodeo fans see the eight‑second rides,” Flitton says with a smile, “My job is to coordinate behind the scenes so the production is smooth and flawless for personnel to execute.”

The Heart of Big Bucks ProRodeo

What sets Flitton apart isn’t just her organizational skill—it’s her heart for the sport and the people.  Community citizens remember her kindness. Contestants know her as a friendly face who helps them get checked in and squared away. Contractors trust her judgment. Contract personnel rely on her experience and expertise.  Volunteers know she’ll be the first one wiping down hospitality tables and washing banners to lend a helping hand.

Big Bucks ProRodeo is a family run business where her husband, Cody, is part owner and both her daughters perform as Stellar Trick Riding Cowgirls.  The entire crew know the former teacher aka Mrs. Flitton can truly anchor the chaos and guide the outcome.

Rodeo is a sport built on grit, tradition, and teamwork. While the cowboys and cowgirls take center stage, the sport simply couldn’t function without the people behind the scenes. The secretary’s role is one of the most demanding—and most essential—positions in the entire production. Flitton embodies that importance. She is the quiet force behind Big Bucks ProRodeo, the one ensuring that every logistical detail, sponsor fulfillment, hotel room booked, and contestant gets due attention.

Big Bucks ProRodeo is grateful to have Linda Flitton as the rodeo secretary. She is willing to take on many responsibilities, including surfing in her native California.
